    Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Do you know what you want from life? Are you feeling out of control? Grieving? Lost? Hurt? Lonely? Seeking balance? Want a deeper relationship with yourself or others? Are you seeking to be understood? Do you struggle with implementing boundaries?

Thank you for honoring me with your visit. Chances are if you are here, you are looking to fulfill a need and you know that there is something out of balance. You may not know what you want, but you definitely have clarity about what you don’t want.

Change is difficult, it can be scary and it can be exciting. It can propel us into action or stop us in our tracks. The unknown does not have to be inhibiting, rather it can be incredibly empowering. Putting words towards our emotions can be liberating. Connecting with those raw emotions is courageous.

Hi, my name is Diane D. Rodriguez, many call me Dee Dee, if you are struggling with finding meaning and staying balanced, I have been there and I am here to offer my help.

Who am I? Enter the twilight zone theme song here…I may have dated myself!

First and most importantly, I am human being, and yes a psychotherapist. I am a helper, a nurturing healer and a compassionate spirit, with a sense of humor when needed. You might also call me a change agent, a paramedic for the body, mind and soul, helping you breathe life back into your being and into your relationships. I believe you are here for good reason and have the innate ability to create the life and relationships you desire and deserve to have.

I am a mom of four. Three girls and one boy: one is in the Air Force, one is in Heaven, one in university and one at home. I'm married to a USAF Retired vet for close to 28 years after a near two-year courtship. I am bilingual and proficient in reading, writing and speaking Spanish (even when the brain mashes it into Spanglish). I am a passionate advocate for childhood cancer, hospice, bone marrow recruitment, military families and grief education.

I am a clinician who believes that the therapeutic relationship should be a safe place for self-discovery. My approach is client and heart centered, one based on a theoretical orientation that is heavy in existentialism and eclectic in nature. I believe on a holistic approach that encompasses the body, mind and spirit. I perceive that in order for individuals to work through their difficulties, compassionate and nonjudgmental support needs to be part of one's foundation. That foundation can be established in the therapeutic relationship and also in one's awareness, relationship patterns, automatic thoughts, self-care, health, social environment and meaning of life.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Social Psychology from Park University. I hold a Master of Science in Counseling and Psychology in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Troy University. I am also a registered mental health counselor intern under the supervision of Earl Ledford and John Wiemann. I am currently awaiting a Master’s Certification in Addiction Counseling from Troy University and I have specialized studies in death, dying and bereavement. I am a Prepare & Enrich facilitator (#1279832) and completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Methods Couple Therapy. I have several other areas of studies under my belt and while those credentials were achieved through hard work, perseverance and dedication, my greatest institution of education is probably one that you have also attended, The School of Hard Knocks from Life University. Are you an alumni? There were times I thought I signed up for a lifetime membership!

I specialize in grieving mindfully, individual development and relationship building.

With my guidance you can have a balanced life enhancing your overall well being. Best of all, you will not be alone; together we will work on a plan to be tailored towards your unique needs and intentions. I love what I do. Both my personal and professional experiences, sustain what I do, how I live and how I view life. Be gentle with yourself, do it afraid, dare to dream, live love, love life and live life changed!
