    Dusty Lande, MS, RMHCI

    Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Are you concerned about your child or teen’s well-being and future? Does your child need help dealing with overwhelming emotions? Today’s children and teens struggle with many common issues that are counseling specialties, such as depression, low self-esteem, ADHD, broken relationships, bullying, anger, behavioral issues ,self-harm and peer pressure, to name a few.

Children, just like adults, can participate in and benefit from counseling. My focus will be to help you and your child learn how to identify the causes of their distress, learn to express their emotions in a positive and productive way, and improve their problem-solving abilities. Most importantly, we will work together to create open lines of communication so that they can reach out to their loved ones and trusted friends for help when necessary.

My approach to child/adolescent therapy is client-centered and strength-based. Together we will identify and develop strength and growth areas, while reducing distress and increasing coping skills.

If you are a parent of a child who is cutting (or other forms of self-injury and self-harm) I Currently lead a group for adolescents that engage in self-harming activities. Our recommendation to parents is to seek immediate therapeutic intervention.

As a former educator here in Florida, I believe my attributes as a teacher enhance the counseling relationship. Being an effective teacher I not only was dedicated to making knowledge accessible to all students based on my belief that all students can learn but, equally important is to foster students' self-esteem, motivation, character, and civic responsibility. Throughout my teaching career I always knew my true passion was to help children and adolescents outside of the classroom with life’s stressors. This led me to obtain a Master’s degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling and become a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern working towards licensure.
